How to play Carrom

Open Carrom, check the instructions and begin a round. Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Check the rule that explains your first action. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Play a casual Carrom match using the house rules shown here. Tournament penalties and multi-board match scoring are not used.

A useful comparison

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Notice how the game responds to your input.

Step by step

  1. White starts; set striker aim and power.
  2. Own-colour pockets earn another shot.
  3. Cover the queen with an own-colour man in the same or next shot.
  4. Striker fouls return one own pocketed man if available.
  5. Finish your colour after a covered queen.

Controls

Touch to aim; sliders set power and angle; striker-position controls and Shoot. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Check any mode label before starting.

A useful example

Queen and own man in one legal shot cover immediately. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Look for the relevant detail.

Watch out for this

The last own man returns if the queen remains uncovered. Check the rule before repeating the action. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
