How to play Pyramid Solitaire

Open Pyramid Solitaire, check the instructions and begin a round. Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Pyramid, stock and waste; one stock recycle. Free solo play, no wagering.

A careful first round

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

Step by step

  1. Only uncovered cards are selectable. Pairs total 13; a king removes alone.
  2. Click an exposed card or eligible pair to remove it.
  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Check any mode label before starting.

A useful example

An exposed queen pairs with an ace; a jack pairs with a 2. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Take a moment to compare.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use.
